Summer Wedding: The Practical Guide to Planning It Stress-Free

Il matrimonio estivo è il sogno di molte coppie. Cerimonia all’aperto, luci dorate, cena sotto le stelle. Ma A summer wedding is the dream of many couples. An outdoor ceremony, golden light, dinner under the stars. But planning one takes a bit more care than a spring or autumn wedding. Here’s what we’ve learned from years of summer weddings at Villa Acquaderni.

Timing: the most important secret

In July and August, the golden rule is simple: avoid the mid-afternoon heat peak. The ceremony works beautifully in the morning (10–11 am) or late afternoon (6–7 pm), when the light has already turned golden and temperatures have dropped. A reception starting around 7:30 pm can enjoy the golden hour for an outdoor cocktail and then move into a cool evening. It’s the formula that works best — and produces the most beautiful photographs.

Flowers: choosing wisely saves the day

Not all flowers can handle the heat. Hydrangeas, dahlias, lisianthus, zinnias, and sunflowers are perfect for summer — beautiful, resilient, and abundantly available in July. Peonies, tulips, and lily of the valley, on the other hand, are spring flowers that wilt quickly in summer heat. A good florist knows this and will guide you toward arrangements that last the whole day without losing their freshness.

Guests: think about their comfort

Guests at a summer wedding deserve special attention. Personalized fans on ceremony seats, fresh water always available during the cocktail hour, ample shade in outdoor areas. Small touches that make a difference — and that guests always notice and appreciate.

Plan B: you won’t need it, but it’s reassuring

In summer the chances of rain are low, but not zero. Having a backup plan for the ceremony — a covered space in reserve, an elegant marquee, an indoor hall — doesn’t mean being pessimistic: it means being organized. And a well-organized wedding is one where the couple can truly enjoy every moment.
